A Note From P. Karen
I think most of you know by now that Gerry has passed away and I wanted to let you know that his
funeral was September 21th. I had a "Celebration of Life" for him on the same day.

Scoop
I had a long talk with Karen, after I got her e-mail about Gerry’s Funeral. I had no idea he had died.
(Sept. 12lh) There were many unanswered questions. Some of which Karen doesn't want the answer
to. The police were involved because his body wasn't found for three days. Karen was the one to
find him, (in his truck parked a few blocks from their house) even though she had turned in a missing
person report earlier. Mainly, and I don’t think I'm divulging anything she wouldn't want known,
she said; "He's dead and that’s what matters". She has her daughter, Lou and Don, Kathy and Don,
and lots of other friends with her. (at least, as much as she will let them be with her) She described
herself as 'a tough bitch " who will make it through this and will go on with her life. She said if she
gets any of his ashes, she planned to take them to Hawaii and 'feed them to the whales'. «Cindi>
LOL-You go girl!)

Eyvonne
Our last rally was an exception, as Pres Karen and the staff decided to do some things different. There
were no trike games. This gave everyone more time to visit and get to know each other better. The
'People Game' was unique too. Kathy Linendoll and Eyvonne Long prepared tables with various
items- Everyone who participated was given a list and instructions to either guess the weight or the
quantity of each item on the list. Everyone could guess on all or certain items. There were 75 items in
all. All the items were bought, donated by others or created by Kathy and Eyvonne. We had ties,
but with a flip of the coin, (so to speak) a winner of each was proclaimed. All the items were presented
at the banquet to the winners. Here is a list of the winners and what they won:
Marge Boitnitt -earrings/necklace
Maryann Parrish -earrings/necklace, trike basket, candy jar and crocheted hot pads

We've been having the regular hot and cold of a Texas winter... 80 one day and 12 the next.
You know how it goes. Hope everyone is well. I just wanted to let everyone know of a couple
of members that need to hear from us.
I have few facts, but from what Jean Kennedy relayed to me, Don Hoffman passed away in
November from pneumonia related problems. As you know, he has had many health problems
over the past years. If you would like to send a card to Linda and the girls, their address is:
Linda Hoffman
23006 Radar Hill Rd.
Rapid City. SD 57701
We've also a second family, who's had a bad winter. Don and Jeanne Hauf’s 6yr old son Riley,
was diagnosed with leukemia. He's been a very sick boy, but is better now. If you would like
more info, you can go to a web site (www.caringbridge.org) where Jeanne is keeping a journal of
their situation. (his site is /rileyhauf)

Both of these families need our love, prayers and cards or notes on the web site.
I also wanted everyone to know that I talked to Leonard in September and he was doing better. He's on several medications now and sees the Doctor regularly. If you would like to call him, his phone number is 951-926-0011.
We hope everyone is well and we can't wait to see you this year.
Becky and Ric

Bob Parkins
I'm thinking of selling my Charley Trike. Let me know if anyone is interested.
(from the editor) I would love to see it go to someone who knew and loved Charley.

Dennis Carruth
Don Mayhugh and I will probably come in on Friday and stay awhile so that we can visit everyone.
Don's just not up to the whole weekend. He would like everyone who goes to Sturgis, to come by and
see him please. Let everyone know to stop by. He would have liked to see everyone last year. So stop
by and bring friends.
Don seems to be doing well. He worked in the shop every day till the snow and cold set in. He now
has a 4-wheeler with a snow plow and its street legal! (Good grief, someone hold that man back!)
I'm also doing well and can't wait to see everyone this year. Sincerely, Dennis

Phyllis Reynolds
Hello! How was everyone's winter? Ours was COLD!!!
Are you ready for this?! Bryce and Sarah are engaged!! The best part is, (per Cindi) they plan on
going away (probably to Jamaica) in January to get married. (Get it? No headache for Mom & Dad!)

In February, we loaded up the bikes and went to Arizona for two weeks. We just felt like getting a little riding in. (AYE?!) On the way back, we stopped in to see Pappy and Rosie in Sturgis. They weren't doing too badly. It was sure great visiting with them. Take care. Phyllis and Brian

Steve Musgrave
Since I have not been at the rally for many years, I'm sure that most of you don't know. I had my brain
tumor removed in 1999, but it grew back in 2004. So I've had many complications, along with taking
care of my aging mother. My mother passed away, so now I'm concentrating on taking care of myself.
because of physical and financial problems, I moved to Casa Grande, Arizona.
While going through hernia surgery and recovery, I started having so much pain in my hips that I ended
up in a wheelchair/walker for the next 2 1/2 years. I ended up having my right hip replaced last August, then
my left one in September. In December, I finally got back on my motorcycle for a 'Toy Run' and have
been riding ever since.

I don't currently own a trike because of when I went through my hip deterioration. I guess you could
say I went backwards from most people. I decided since I have new legs now, I'd buy a new bike. I
bought a V-Star 1300. I put over 1400 miles on it in a little over a month and have enjoyed it, making
up for lost time. I still want to build another trike, but am still not back 100% working on things like I
used to. I'll have another one as soon as it's possible.
I'll miss you again this year. We'll see what happens next year though. Have a great rally and know
that I wish I could be there. Steve Musgrave from Arizona (Muskrat)

Scoop
I was going to take some pictures of the piles of stuff that Max has accumulated for the next trike... a
307 Toronado engine, body parts from a Chev Luv pickup (which he assures me will not look like a
Chev Luv when he's through), stacks of angle iron and square tubing... but figured it would look just
what it looks like at this point... piles of stuff! !!
Max is in seventh heaven! He got to escort a bride and groom from their wedding to their reception
in the trike. I'm trying to talk him into moving to Las Vegas. I think we could make money there
doing that very thing. But, I don't know if we could make enough to support our gambling habit(s)!!!
Then one night, he escorted some of the homecoming royalty around the football field during the half
time ceremony. Of course, the Jitney stood out beside the Pont Bonneville and the Ford Mustang convertibles that were also used in the presentation.
Bob and Marilou S. hunted us down last year in Deadwood, SD. We had parked in front of a casino
(they happen to be staying in the next hotel) and they spotted the trike, so they came into the casino and found us. It reminded me of growing up... My dad bought a bright orange '54 Chev pickup'. He let my brother and I drive it but, we got by with nothing.. Everyone knew who that orange pickup belonged to and did not hesitate to keep our dad informed as to our whereabouts!!! Take care. Eyvonne
I retired on September 30th. So, we've been really busy in trying to move, assisting in a wedding for our youngest and of course the hunting Dennis has been doing. We wanted to move before the bad weather hit. Our new number and address is; 435-784-5020, 83 W 2nd N, PO Box 32, Manila, Ut. 84046.
We've also helped our boys build a home, garages, etc. Oh and then the hunting! Dennis took people to
our cabin before I retired. One of them had a shot, 4 times at an elk and missed them. The other guy finally got a 4x4 elk and a nice buck. Our daughter-in-law got a nice 6x6 with a bow the first time and shot it right through the lungs. She was excited to say the least. Our youngest son taxidermied it. We then had 'Muzzle Loader' elk season and duck hunting. Every time I turned around there was a hunt. It would have been alright, but I wanted to get moved before winter. Guess who did most of the moving? I hope all are well. We're looking forward to 'Rally-2008'. Best wishes, Eyvonne and Dennis.

Katrina Anton-Indian Campground
Hello from Indian Campground! All is well here and ready for a busy summer. We're delighted to be your
hosts again this season. Let us know what's happening, when you have some definite plans. Around June
1st, please call to confirm reservations so that we can make sure that we have everything in order for you.
We are looking forward to seeing all of you again. Katrina and Harold

VP Tom Parish
Well, here we go again. It's time for another 'Great ATA Rally'. I am looking forward to this year, as I
will be stepping into the huge pair of shoes worn by Karen. I think that with a little (make that a lot of) help
from all, it will be a great time. I want to thank everyone who made the 2007 rally go as smooth as it did.
Without everyone who helped, it wouldn't have gone near as well. Thanks!!
I still haven't had much time to work on my trike, so I probably won't have it at this year's event. Maybe
next year, huh!?! I look forward to seeing all of you and let's try to break the attendance record. Tell all of
your friends and we'll see you there. VP Tom Parish

Cindi
I just want to apologize for not getting out more than one newsletter. I couldn't get enough info to put one out in the fall. We went to Florida for the winter (yes I know!) and I guess I'm just not moving as fast as I used to.
I hope everyone is recuperating from the winter and getting siked and ready for the rally. Enclosed, you will
find a registration sheet to sign up early. Please, even if you can't pay in advance, fill out the form and send
it in. It helps us to know approximately how many will be there when we are trying to order food and give a
count for the banquet. Thanks so much for your understanding. Everyone have a great summer and a safe trip
to the rally. Cindi
